I hate formalities so I’m going to make this short and sweet. My name is Dan. In good time you’ll get to know my brother – beatmaker and audio engineer extraordinaire, B Sykes. As for myself, I’m a struggling writer and part of the college-educated, mid-recession backwash of people in this country that have yet to make a name for themselves. After writing and interning for the Philadelphia Weekly and URB magazine, I’ve decided to try my hand at this blogging thing (independently at least). Two months ago I began work on this site. I can honestly say that it’s the first project in a long time that I’ve actually been able to put 100% of my heart and soul into. I intend to keep it that way. I love hip hop more than I love my own mother, and over the next 18 months I am going to channel every ounce of energy that I have into this project. If it gets wings, then there’s no limit to where we can take this thing. If not, then I’ll go back to being a bum and working crappy temp jobs to make ends meet. Until then there will at least be plenty of good music to fill in the gaps.
